Word Count?

Reading information about how to write a query letter is very helpful... for the most part. I just read a bit that said a first-time writer's novel can only be a maximum of 100,000 words or agents will just toss their query letters. Mine is 137,000 words. So... I don't know. I guess I will send some queries out for awhile and then if I don't get any good responses maybe it's time to do a new edit and figure out some way to trim 37,000 words out of my story.

It seems overly daunting... but then I suppose it is possible if I try hard enough.

  1. Cut out all of the extraneous "very"s. For that matter you can save 4 characters by saying extra instead of extraneous. Hope that helps.
