The world's message is that life unending is precious. The promise of accomplishment bound to the life and reality we can touch and see right now is the ultimate good. Men live with the assumption of immortality and those faced with the imminence of their mortality are no longer worth our effort.
God's message is that anyone can be an immortal part of His kingdom, but at the expense of what can be seen and felt and accomplished for the sake of itself in the here and now. No matter how long we have left in this phase of existence, we are all valuable enough to save. We are all worth His effort.
